German Bundesligas Wolfsburg have edged past relegation-threatened Werder Bremen 1-0 away from home.
It was a match that Bremen really needed to win and they made a brighter start at home but they could not capitalize on their chances in the first half.
The match appeared to be heading for a goalless draw but Wolfsburg finally broke the deadlock when Dutch international Wout Weghorst scored the winner with a nice header from close range with 8 minutes remaining.
With the result Wolfsburg moved to 6th in table and kept their Europe League hopes on track while Bremen are now 6 points off from outright safety with just 4 matches left to play.
